Berlin Beef Served on Saucers: The Return of Resonance.

In 1884, they divided a continent without its people. Yet resonance, the eternal frequency of remembrance, has awakened in a new age.
Between 1884 and 1885, European powers gathered in Berlin during what history records as The Berlin Conference, organized under Otto von Bismarck.
Its stated purpose was diplomacy. Its consequence was the partitioning of an entire continent.
No African nation, no African leader, nor any representative of the people whose lands were being divided sat at that table. Yet decisions were made determining the extraction of Africa’s land, gold, minerals, rubber, oil, labor, and economic futures — systems whose effects continue shaping the modern world.
This painting exists within that memory.
The suspended slab of meat represents a continent rendered consumable.
The table symbolizes institutional power disguised as policy.
The empty chairs reveal the violence of absence.
The saucers above become vessels of transfer — carrying the wealth extracted from lands whose people were never invited into the conversation.
For generations, men consumed from tables they themselves created, believing the feast would never end.
Yet history moves through resonance.
Today nations such as Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, and others increasingly seek new forms of sovereignty, challenging structures inherited from colonial architecture and asserting greater control over their own futures.
But this work speaks beyond politics.
Those who once consumed the world never imagined that history remembers.
The very vessels used to carry the spoils of extraction now carry something different.
Return.
Correction.
Resonance.
This is not equality.
This is equation.
The soulful ones remembering that what was taken can never remain separated forever from those who gave it life.
And eventually, history knocks back.
