"Oakleaf," by Ken Kammal, is a 20" x 16" acrylic painting that channels resilience, wisdom, and the ancient strength of rooted things. The oak leaf, long a symbol of endurance and legacy, is portrayed here as a living emblem of grounded insight and the quiet majesty of nature’s design. Created in 2024 as part of the Plants in a Portal collection, the work explores how even the humblest foliage can represent gateways into deeper knowing.

Housed in a 3-inch wide, gold-painted wooden frame with a raised, rounded top profile, the solid wood frame is finished with gesso for a refined texture. Together, painting and frame present a work of art that is contemplative, dignified, and spiritually grounded.

Care Instructions

1. Display Placement:

  • Avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading or discoloration.

  • Keep away from high humidity areas (e.g., bathrooms) to avoid warping or mold.

  • Do not hang above heat sources like radiators or fireplaces.

2. Cleaning:

  • Dust the surface gently using a soft, dry microfiber cloth.

  • Do not use water, sprays, or cleaning agents on the painting or frame.

  • If framed with glass, clean only the glass surface carefully with glass cleaner sprayed onto a cloth (never directly on the frame).

3. Framing Care:

  • The gold-painted wooden frame with gesso coating is delicate; handle with clean hands or gloves.

  • Use a soft cloth to gently wipe the frame. Avoid abrasive materials that may damage the finish.

4. Handling:

  • Always lift artwork with both hands, holding the sides of the frame—not the top.

  • Avoid touching the painted surface directly.

5. Storage:

  • Store in a climate-controlled, dry space.

  • If unframed or in transport, wrap in acid-free paper and bubble wrap, then place in a sturdy box or crate.

6. Professional Maintenance:

  • For deep cleaning or restoration, consult a professional art conservator.
